Southern Oregon True Crime Summit Interactive Experience
As evening settles over Southern Oregon, the stories deepen.

The Pacific Northwest is known for its beauty, green forests, coastlines, small towns, and quiet roads. But beneath that beauty lies a darker history shaped by crime, investigation, and unanswered questions. When the light fades, those stories take on a different weight.
That’s the atmosphere behind Malice in the Mist, a special interactive evening lecture offered as an add-on experience at the Southern Oregon True Crime Summit.

An Interactive Lecture at Remotion Wine Tasting Room
Malice in the Mist is not a traditional panel or passive presentation.
This interactive lecture invites attendees to engage directly with the material, asking questions, exploring case details, and examining how crime and investigation have shaped the Pacific Northwest. The experience blends historical cases, behavioral analysis, and investigative insight in a format designed to be immersive, thoughtful, and conversation-driven.
It’s an opportunity to go beyond headlines and explore why these crimes happened, how they were investigated, and what they reveal about human behavior.
Led by a Cold Case Specialist
The evening is led by Sarah Cailean, a criminal behaviorist and cold case homicide investigator whose work centers on understanding patterns, motives, and unresolved cases.
Sarah brings a grounded, research-based approach to her work, focusing on behavioral analysis and the long arc of cold case investigation. Her perspective offers attendees a deeper understanding of how crimes are interpreted over time, and how new insights can emerge long after a case has gone quiet.
This lecture aligns closely with the summit’s commitment to ethical storytelling, education, and respect for the real people behind the cases.
Why an Evening Lecture?
True crime can be consumed in many ways, books, podcasts, documentaries, and panels. Malice in the Mist offers something different.
This evening lecture creates space for:
- Deeper exploration of cases and behavior
- Audience interaction and thoughtful discussion
- A quieter, more reflective setting
- Meaningful connection between expert and attendees
Held in the evening, the experience allows the day’s conversations to settle — creating the perfect atmosphere for examining complex cases and difficult questions with care and curiosity.
A Limited, Intimate Experience
Because of its interactive nature, Malice in the Mist is intentionally limited in size. This ensures the lecture remains personal, focused, and engaging, allowing for real dialogue rather than a one-way presentation.
It’s designed for attendees who want to lean in, think critically, and participate in a deeper exploration of true crime.
